„35 Jahre ist es her, dass Tschernobyl der Welt gezeigt hat, wie gefährlich und unkontrollierbar Atomkraft ist. Unter den Folgen der Katastrophen leiden die Menschen noch heute. Trotzdem hat unser Nachbarland Polen erst im Februar dieses Jahres den Bau mehrerer neuer Atomkraftwerke beschlossen, die auch für uns in Berlin bedrohlich werden können.
Laut einem Gutachten, beauftragt von der Grünen Bundestagsfraktion, kann eine radioaktive Wolke ausgehend vom geplanten AKW in Żarnowiec-Kopalino an der Ostseeküste auch Berlin treffen. Wir Grüne stehen an der Seite der Anti-Atomkraft-Kämpfer*innen in Polen und überall auf der Welt, denn für uns gilt weiter: Atomkraft? Nein Danke!
Wir müssen stattdessen die europäische Energiewende forcieren, basierend auf erneuerbarer Energie aus Wind, Sonne und Wasser, Energieeffizienz und Energieeinsparung. In Berlin treiben wir die Energiewende voran: zum Beispiel mit der Solarpflicht für alle Neubauten und für den Bestand bei grundlegender Dachsanierung ab 2023. Mit dem Solargesetz wird Berlin zum Vorbild in Sachen Energiewende und Klimaschutz.“
Unzählige Tote und an Leukämie erkrankte Opfer
Durch den Unfall und den Versuch, einen Strahlenschutzmantel über das Kraftwerk zu legen, sind viele Bürger und staatliche Helfer gestorben oder schwer erkrankt. In Weissrussland bleibt die Region rund um Tschernobyl auf Jahrhunderte hin verstrahlt und ist ohne erhebliches Gesundheitsrisiko nicht mehr bewohnbar. Noch heute, 34 Jahre nach dieser Reaktorkatastrophe engagiert sich der Römerberger „Tschernobylkreis“ und lädt jedes Jahr Kinder aus Weißrussland zu einem dreiwöchigen Erholungsaufenthalt in Römerberger Gastfamilien ein.
Die erneute Reaktorkatastrophe von Fukushima am 11. März 2011, in einer Hightech-/ Industrienation wie Japan, war für die Bundesregierung Anlass, die Frage der zukünftigen Energieversorgung grundlegend auf den Prüfstand zu stellen. Eine einberufene Ethikkommission stuft die weitere friedliche Atomenergienutzung auch wegen des erhöhten Strahlen- und Unfallrisikos und der bis heute immer noch nicht gelösten Entsorgungsproblematik, langfristig als unverantwortbar ein.
Am 06. Juni 2011 beschließt die Bundesregierung, dem Ergebnis der Ethikkommission zu folgen und beschließt das sofortige Aus für acht Atomkraftwerke und den stufenweisen Ausstieg aus der Atomenergie bis 2022.
